Jennifer Hudson has been tapped to play Winnie Mandela, the former wife of South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela, in the upcoming film Winnie. The film is based on the Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob biography Winnie Mandela: A Life, according to Variety. Production is scheduled to begin May 30 in the South African locations of Johannesburg, Cape Town, Transkei and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela served 18 of his 27 years of imprisonment.Winnie Mandela was also jailed while campaigning for her husband's release and fighting against apartheid. Her image was tarnished by an association with a bodyguard who murdered a 14-year old alleged informer in 1989. She was also convicted of fraud in 2003.Hudson, 28, also a Grammy-award winning singer, won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her screen debut in Dreamgirls and has since starred in The Secret Life of Bees and the film adaptation of Sex in the City.Labels: dreamgirls, jennifer hudson, play, sex in the city, variety, winnie mandela

Taylor Lautner has vowed to never show off his muscular body again in a film. The 17-year-old actor - who plays the part of werewolf Jacob Black in 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - had to really bulk up for the role.Taylor - who reportedly put on over 30lbs to keep his part in the film - has since said he doesn't want people noticing him just for his muscular body, he wants his acting skills to be recognised as well.He said: "I worked hard to get in shape for this role. My motivation was the movie and the fans, but I don't want to become known as just a body. If I had to choose I would never take my shirt off again in a movie but I guess that's not very realistic. I certainly won't be asking to do it, though."The American star has previously spoken about how he feels uncomfortable in his own skin.He said: "It's so uncomfortable knowing that so many people are seeing pictures of me shirtless. It's weird. It's kind of embarrassing."Taylor has also spoken about how horrified he was when a middle-aged female fan tried to remove her underwear in front of him.He said: "They had my name imprinted on them. So that was kind of strange."Labels: cover up, muscular body, play, taylor, Taylor Lautner

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform an entire album from their back catalog each night of the five-night run at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in October, the group announced late Monday night."Born to Run" and "Born in the USA" will each be performed twice, and "Darkness on the Edge of Town" will be played at the other show.Springsteen tested full-album performances earlier in the tour: in Chicago on September 20 he did "Born to Run" from start to finish as the centerpiece of one of the group's typical marathon sets."Chicago convinced us that this was really worth doing," Springsteen's manager Jon Landau said in a statement. "The audience was so supportive of the concept that it convinced us to go ahead with this at Giants Stadium."Springsteen and company are in the midst of a fall tour that wraps November 22 in Buffalo, New York. In addition to five shows at Giants Stadium, a "Born to Run" gig is set for November 18 in Nashville. The band will also appear at New York's Madison Square Garden as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary concert on October 29Tuesday, September 29, 2009
