A longer version of the dance was performed by the drill team during halftime at Friday's football game.A classic Halloween-themed dance was performed by more than 100 Pioneer High School students Friday at the campus quad.Members of the school's drill team, all-male dance team, Associated Student Body and anyone else who felt the music pulled together at noon to perform Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance in unison. It was a precursor to the school's annual Halloween costume contest."There were some groups doing the dance across the country to get into the record books," said Harry Yessian, assistant principal of business and activities. "We didn't want to do that, but thought it would be fun for Halloween."Although the dance lasted just a minute and a half, the enthusiasm was high.

Michael Jackson

This collection of Michael Jackson retreads from the Motown era seems to walk the line between shameless cash grab and worthy tribute. Generally, the best cuts here stay close to the spirit of the originals: Of the three takes on the Jackson 5's "Dancing Machine," one is great (Polow Da Don's disco-hip-hop celebration), and two ain't (overdone techno overhauls by DJs Steve Aoki and Paul Oakenfold). But there are exceptions. On producer Salaam Remi's outrageous reggae version of "ABC," Michael's junior James Brown testimony will make even purists grin like fools. In the end, Jackson proves to be more mutable than maybe even he knew.

The massive marble and concrete Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park was slightly accessible by the public before Michael Jackson was entombed somewhere in its maze of floors and hallways.

Tell the entrance guard you were there to see the "Last Supper" stained-glass window show, and you were allowed to roam a portion of the catacombs for about 10 minutes before anyone hassled you.

But those open sections are only a fraction of the sprawling building that rises many stories and plunges deep underground.

So wherein lies the King of Pop in the monolith? That may be a secret for the ages.

On Friday, a tourist family asked a guard whether the superstar's tomb was private. The guard said it was.

Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, told detectives he gave the singer a series of sedatives and the powerful anesthetic propofol to help him sleep. Prosecutors are still investigating, and no charges have been filed.
