Hideki Matsui took a meaty cut, watched the ball fly and winced when it hooked a foot foul.Matsui put the world in World Series MVP, earning the award by homering, doubling, singling and driving in six runs Wednesday night as the New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 to claim their 27th championship.Matsui became the first Japanese-born player to win the award that started in 1955. He hit .615 (8 for 13) with three home runs and eight RBIs. His performance in Game 6 matched the record for RBIs in a Series game. No one, however, had done it in a clincher. This year wrapped up Matsui's $52 million, four-year contract. It remains to be seen what the aging Yankees will do with him. we've seen very hot and sexy actresses and celebrities take the place of supermodels on magazine covers, in beauty campaigns— they even steal the spotlight at fashion shows with their front row seats. (Hello, blinding paparazzi flashes that make it near-impossible for a girl to work the catwalk!) But, today, models are back on the financial rise. And they're not just back in Vogue, either. They're hosting TV shows, hawking hair color, designing clothes and spearheading important charity organizations.Based on statistics gathered from Forbes magazine, we've put together a gallery of the world's top ten earners. It's no surprise that those Brazilian girls are still shutting it down...
1. Gisele Bundchen
At $25M a year, the 29-year-old Brazilian is the world’s top-earning model. Married to Tom Brady and pregnant with their first child together, she continues to promote Versace, True Religion jeans, Dior and Ebel watches. She's known for her sexy, feminine, and body-conscious looks.
2. Heidi Klum
Raking in $16M per year, the beautiful 36-year-old German mother of four remains a Victoria's Secret Angel as well as the host of "Project Runway" and "Germany's Next Top Model." Her endorsement deals include designing a line of Birkenstock sandals, and campaigns with Diet Coke, Volkswagen, McDonald's and LG. Klum, who wore mini dresses throughout her pregnancies, favors short and sexy looks like this one.
3. Kate Moss
Arguably the most-copied supermodel/person in the world, Kate Moss rakes in a cool $8.5M per year. She's everywhere this year -- as the face of Versace, Longchamp and David Yurman, among others, and her line for Topshop continues to thrive. She started the personal style revolution, and here she shows her edge in a futuristic strong-shouldered Balmain mini dress with her signature black tights.
4. Adriana Lima
Coming in a half a million under Ms. Moss (at $8M), Victoria's Secret's Brazilian bombshell Adriana Lima has seemingly risen to her rank based on sheer sex appeal. Expecting her first child with basketball player Marko Jaric, her style is characterized by sexy and feminine pieces, like this soft slate-colored chiffon Louis Vuitton dress and metallic peep-toe heels.
5. Doutzen Kroes
The Dutch model -- known for her bee-stung lips -- brings in a respectable $6M a year. Victoria's Secret's newest Angel, the 24-year old also picked up a very lucrative Seven For All Mankind jeans campaign this year. You can find Doutzen wearing skirts with hems up to there and pieces that most definitely accentuate her flawless figure.
6. Alessandra Ambrosio
Alessandra Ambrosio, who is tied with Doutzen at $6M, is yet another Brazilian VS Angel. The 28-year-old, who gave birth to her first child last year, appeared on the runway just three months later. She's got the sexy Latina look down-pat, especially here in this racy, lacey mini.
7. Natalia Vodianova
$5.5M-earner Natalia Vodianova got her start in the pages of Vogue after coming from an impoverished family in Russia. The mother of three is one of the most well-rounded girls on this list. She's the face of lingerie line Etam, Calvin Klein, Guerlain, Jacob & Co. and also runs the Naked Heart Foundation, a charity that raises money to provide playgrounds in Russia. Natalia's style is a combination of classic, well-tailored pieces with a downtown edge, like this beautiful Calvin Klein bustier dress and the big statement necklace.
8. Daria Werbowy
From modeling contests to major brand campaigns like Louis Vuitton, Daria Werbowy -- who takes home $4.5M a year -- is known for her doe eyes, which certainly have helped her land Balmain, H&M, Vogue Eyewear and Roberto Cavalli jobs. She's got a bit of roughness about her that we LOVE -- pairing soft cream and pink pieces with black ankle boots has never looked so good!
9. Miranda Kerr
The first Aussie to join the Victoria's Secret cast, Miranda Kerr earns $3M per year with big contracts like XOXO clothing. And earlier this year, she lent her legendary dimples to help those affected by the Australian bush fires as a participant in the Australia Unites fundraiser. Miranda's style is decidedly the girliest on the list. Her pink ruffle dress and Vuitton handbag are just one example.

10. Caroline Murphy
Rounding out the list at $3M is our American homegirl Carolyn Murphy. At 36, her Playboy and Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue days may be behind her, but her Banana Republic and Lord & Taylor contracts (among others) keep her in the game. Her style is classic American, resembling Jackie O in this simple and modest cowl-neck silk dress with black leather pumps.

PHILADELPHIA - Cole Hamels earned the MVP award in last year's World Series, capping a postseason in which he went 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA in five starts. For the second straight postseason start, Hamels was knocked out with one out in the fifth inning. It's safe to say the Phillies lefthander won't be the first back-to-back MVP winner in major-league history. Or the first player to amass more than one MVP award in his career since Reggie Jackson in 1973 and '77.After the Dodgers launched three homers and chased Hamels in Philadelphia's Game 5 clincher in the NL Championship Series, the southpaw started strongly Saturday night, holding the Yankees hitless into the fourth inning. Hamels' outing unraveled from that point in the Yankees' 8-5 victory.Reliever J.A. Happ retired Rodriguez and Jorge Posada to strand two inherited runners, keeping Hamels' line at 4-1/3 innings, five runs, five hits, two walks and a hit batter.Hamels has a 7.58 ERA and has allowed seven homers in 19 innings this postseason.Because Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has passed on using Cliff Lee on short rest Sunday like the Yankees plan to use CC Sabathia, Hamels and not Lee would face Sabathia if the Series goes to a Game 7."I hope my teammates want me to be out there for it," Hamels said.Entering last night's start, Hamels acknowledged his season-long struggles have led to frustration. He went 10-11 with a 4.32ERA during the regular season."I think that some of it was I wasn't able to locate as well earlier in the season," Hamels said. "And then it gets frustrating. ...Then it's the mental burden, which can kind of wear you down week after week, of not being able to go out there and do what you're expecting yourself to do and what everybody else expects you to do, too."So it's been a growing process. It's something that I think a lot of guys have had to go through."
